Using the Calendar View in Hypertask
See your tasks on a calendar with week and month views. Navigate with G then C, switch views with M and W, and create tasks directly from any date.
Overview
The Calendar View lets you see all your tasks with due dates laid out on a calendar. Switch between week and month views, navigate with keyboard shortcuts, and create or open tasks directly from any date.
How to Open the Calendar
Press G then C to go to the Calendar View. You can also access it from the Hypertasks Command Center (HTC) by pressing Ctrl+K / Cmd+K and typing "Calendar".
Week and Month Views
The calendar has two display modes:
- Press
Wto switch to Week View — see tasks across 7 days with more detail per day - Press
Mto switch to Month View — get a birds-eye view of the full month
Keyboard Navigation
Navigate the calendar entirely with your keyboard:
J/K— move up and down through tasks within a day- Arrow keys — move between days (left/right) and tasks (up/down)
Tab— cycle through weeks or daysEnter— open the selected taskC— create a new task on the selected date
Creating Tasks from the Calendar
You can create tasks directly from the calendar:
- Navigate to the date you want using the keyboard or click on a day
- Press
Cto create a new task - The task will automatically have its due date set to the selected date
This is a fast way to plan your week — just navigate to each day and add tasks as you go.
Opening Tasks
Click on any task card in the calendar to open it, or navigate to it with J/K and press Enter. The task detail page opens just like it would from the board view.
Filtering the Calendar
Use the right sidebar to filter which tasks appear on the calendar:
- By project — select one or more projects to show tasks from
- Created by me — only show tasks you created
- Assigned to me — only show tasks assigned to you
- Following — only show tasks you are following
You can also use Shift+F to open the full filter modal with advanced options like labels, priority, and date ranges — the same filtering you have on the Kanban board.
Tips
- Set due dates first — only tasks with due dates appear on the calendar. Use
Shift+Don any task to set a due date, or learn more in Using Due Dates in Hypertasks - Use month view for planning — get an overview of your workload across the month, then switch to week view for detailed daily work
- Combine with project filters — check multiple projects in the sidebar to see a unified calendar across all your boards
